A risk-based, person centred approach to inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities in faith communities

Aim: To understand and implement a practical model for the engagement of people with intellectual disability and a faith community, using a framework that incorporates intersecting concepts of faith, meaning, spirituality, religion, and religious expression, while navigating considerations such as person-centred active support, community inclusion practices, sustainability and denominational differences. This work builds on a previous project completed called ‘Keeping faith,’ which evaluated spirituality, meaning and faith of people with intellectual disability.
